I have been making anything and everything since I was a small child. My education took me through business studies and product design, onto being a product designer and strangely on to Special Effects. I was in a full workshop and able to make anything so my lifelong interest in weapons turned into making them and Tods Workshop was born, with me making and my wife running the company.
Tods Workshop has a simple formula and that is to not make anything extraordinary. Not in a negative way, but quite the opposite, make what we see in the museums and make it look and feel like it could blend right in and not stand out as ‘odd’ in any way. After 25 years we have a reputation of doing just that; making artefacts that look real, because they are real. A philosophy that also extends to all the pieces made and sold through “Tod Cutler” our budget line.
The company has allowed my natural inquisitiveness to flourish, alongside my love of history and an interest in weapons, and the ability to make them. But I also have a love of learning and teaching and YouTube was a logical place where I could indulge my passion for all of my interests at one time; so now I make short films about history too.
