My interest in maille started some 20 years ago when I started to assemble my first shirt. Soon after this, I formed my company Cap-à-pie, working with mass produced rings to produce items for the re enactment market as well as museum displays and the film industry. The company has gone from strength to strength as a result of spending time with curators and conservators and working to improve commercial mass produced rings and patterns to a higher standard. Although fraught with many challenges I have managed to make a few changes over the years but there is still a long way to go.

As well as the mass produced market, I have an interest in making historically accurate rings. Several years ago I teamed up with Nick Checksfield and more recently Phil Parkes while looking at ways to replicate these, the aim is to try and incorporate this work to create a hybrid semi mass produced ring.
